Reporting directly to the Head of Municipal Projects, the fundamental requirement of this role is to have a track record of successfully managing the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) aspects of complex multi-disciplinary Water or Wastewater process projects. Experience across EPC must be balanced in order that the challenges associated with successful delivery of all phases of projects are appreciated equally – this is a “cradle to grave” role.

Having successfully delivered numerous projects for municipal water companies and into the ramp of a large volume of work in AMP 8, Nijhuis Sauer Industries UK (NSI UK) are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated project manager to join the team. NSI UK have an established supply chain with whom they will be developing deeper working relationships during AMP8; to further improve safety, quality and schedule performance.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • General Management
    • Responsibility for overall management of a portfolio or individual projects from sales to inception to handover, ensuring smooth operation and delivery of high quality to budget and in-line or better than the accepted programme.
    • Ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental protection are consistently maintained.
    • Ensure technical input and expertise is best utilised.
    • Overall management of the design, procurement and construction process.
    • Timely production of regular reports to senior managers.
    • Responsible for the oversight of overall programme and costs.
  • Client Facing
    • Building and maintaining relationships with equivalent grade and other managers within the Client organisation.
    • Providing reports and other briefings to client management on the portfolio of projects.
  • Technical
    • Knowledge and experience of the engineering disciplines commensurate with the project scope.
    • Ability to read and analyse project programmes [Primavera P6] and other key schedule documentation.
    • Ability to generate and manage a project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for all project disciplines.
    • Ensuring procurement is progressed in line with the project schedule whilst ensuring adequate oversight to protect NSI UK's commercial position.
    • Ensuring commercial and financial reviews take place to accurately forecast project final outturn position, Cost To Complete and Risk and Opportunity register.
    • Ensure the technical solution delivery is consistent across the project life cycle from early involvement to completion.
    • Ensure best practice, technical bulletins and lessons learned are captured and utilised.
    • Produce / coordinate the development of the NSI UK standard Project Management deliverables and documentation.
    • Encourage and support innovation/value engineering throughout the design phase.
    • In cooperation with the Construction Lead, develop and implement site establishment and ensure the efficient and effective management of site.
    • Management of scope change notices in accordance with the contract requirements (e.g., early warnings and compensation notices).
  • Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ)
    • Demonstrating safety excellence by ensuring KPI and KPM measurements are met.
    • Reviewing supply chain performance against NSI UK's KPIs and KPMs.
    • Implementing and refreshing initiatives to improve behaviours relating to SHEQ.

Qualifications:

  • HNC minimum in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a design and build project delivery role within the water industry.
  • Effective communicator with a positive, passionate, and engaging approach.
  • Good writing and analytical skills and have solid experience in taking full responsibility and leadership for MEICA disciplines.
  • A focus on supporting and implementing continuous improvement.
  • NEC 4 knowledge and experience.
  • SMSTS, CSCS.
