Join SAUR UK as a Mechanical Technician in Glasgow, where you will support the operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plant at Dalmuir.
Mission
The role focuses on executing planned and corrective mechanical maintenance tasks to keep plant equipment reliable and performing at high levels.
Responsibilities
- Implement scheduled planned maintenance, addressing work orders generated through the computerized maintenance (CMMS) system.
- Identify and report abnormal equipment behaviour or critical process situations.
- Install, repair, disassemble, overhaul, and test various industrial equipment and components.
- Respond to equipment failures/breakdowns and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Use investigative techniques to troubleshoot problems and determine root causes effectively.
- Offer suggestions for enhancing plant safety, reliability, and overall efficiency.
Qualifications
- Graduated in Mechanical Engineering (SCQF 7).
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of industrial mechanical equipment.
- Proficient understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Capability to interpret mechanical and process schematics, including P&ID.
- Strong understanding of safe work systems, risk assessment, method statements, isolation procedures and permit‑to‑work systems.
- Proficiency in operating handheld computerized equipment (PDA).
- Knowledge of heavy industry operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Committed, self‑motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to make independent decisions.
- Flexible and responsive to business needs.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Fluent in English.
- Commitment to Health & Safety and understanding of business.
- Proficient in data gathering & analysis.
Conditions
Core working week is 37 hours, Monday to Friday: Monday to Thursday 07:30–15:30 and Friday 07:30–15:00. Reasonable flexibility offered to accommodate personal obligations.
