Summary
The Engineering Manager is, in general terms responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination and technical delivery of all technical engineering and design departments. The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring each department has the correct capabilities and experience available to support the business needs and is, in general terms, the custodian of the company SQEP procedure.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Day to day technical management and leadership of the engineering disciplines teams and personnel.
- Day to day engineering team Administration and coordination support.
- Responsible for managing the engineering resource profile via multi-discipline histograms.
- Coordinate the training and development needs of the engineering team.
- Responsible for the full suite of engineering procedures within the company quality system.
- Reviews and validates engineering input to all estimates / CTR’s (as appropriate to the level of detail and complexity of the scope etc.).
- Ensure engineering alignment, as defined and managed by the project Engineer with each project scope, schedule and allocated man hour budgets.
- Responsible for the Technical sign off of all deliverables.
- Reviews and validates engineering input to all Management of Change (PCN’s) as appropriate to the level of detail and complexity of the scope etc.
- Responsible for the approval prior to issue all TQ’s and EQ’s.
- Ensures multi-discipline technical / engineering support and coordination for all projects. Provides technical / engineering support for all project management system activities including Projects, Procurement, Cost, Planning and Document Control.
- Travel, as needed, in support of the role or business needs.
- Supports business development in proposals and client presentations.
- Communicates and maintains good relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Liaises with the company QHSE Representative to ensure ongoing review and updates of engineering procedures to reflect current standards, codes, guidelines and requirements.
- Ensuring that discipline leads are made fully aware of their duty to understand and be aligned with the appropriate Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Project Scope of work (PDP etc.) as directed by the relevant DM, PE / PM, to produce the required and agreed deliverables to the agreed schedule and agreed hours / cost.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Proven track record as an Engineering Manager.
- A proven track record as a technical designer and engineer.
- Good general understanding and knowledge across all disciplines.
- Degree qualified.
- Chartership preferred but not essential.
