The Water / Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operations Technician will be responsible for operating and monitoring the process equipment associated with the water / effluent treatment plant on the site of an international drinks manufacturer based in Tadcaster and Wakefield. The Technician will spend the majority of their time in Tadcaster but will support other local operations as needed.
The ETP Technician will be expected to monitor and control the plant and implement any operational changes to ensure the plant operates as designed. The Technician would also prepare the plant for planned maintenance tasks as required. The ETP Technician will also be expected to input site data on a computer-based system to monitor and record plant performance.
In addition, the Technician is expected to be able to carry out more complex maintenance of equipment, such as cleaning of process instruments on a regular basis, changing over duty pumps and equipment as necessary and ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible. The role also requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times and the Technician will form part of a team to assist in this task. The role requirements are the safe & seamless operation of the ETP in accordance with the regulatory consent and without interruption to the customer’s production activities.
The job will involve working on a standby rota for the attendance of plant alarms and process monitoring out of normal working hours and weekends. The team which this Technician will join are located in Wakefield and Tadcaster. Full training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work within the client and company Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) systems.
- Take responsibility for the resolution of HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI.
- Order supplies / services for use on the site.
- Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and company.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI colleagues and sub-contractor staff.
- Manage relationships with sub-contractors and regulators (if required).
- Continually improve the workplace to the benefit of HSE, reliability and cost.
- Identify faults, evaluate corrective measures & carry out basic repairs.
- Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand how the plant is performing.
- Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
- Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff.
- Undergo training as required.
- Identify personal training needs.
- Carry out other duties as the employer may reasonably require.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
- NVQ Level 2 (Process Operations or similar) or experience working in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
- Willingness / ability to complete basic repairs and maintenance.
- A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant e.g. Pumps, compressors etc.
- Computer literate.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
- Training in Environmental Health and Safety.
- Experience of working directly with sub-contractors.
- An ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant.
- Operational knowledge of wastewater treatment plant.
- Ability to work within a quality system.
Working for us means:
- The salary is between £26,000 & £31,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
- Hours of Work – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Standby - £25 per day. Will be rostered 1 in 3 and will be weekend working required on the Saturday and Sunday.
- Overtime – will be paid at 1.5.
- Shift Allowance - 10% of basic salary.
- Holidays – 25 days + 8 statutory days.
- Probationary Period – 6 months.
- Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice.
- Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation.
- Eligible for Death in Service benefit (4 x basic salary) and Group Income Protection upon commencement of employment.
- Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter.
