The Part-Time Operations Technician will be responsible for safe and successful operation and maintenance of a modern Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located within the site of an internationally recognised customer in Craig Tara, Ayr.
The Operations Technician will be expected to monitor and control the plant and implement any necessary operational changes. The Operations Technician will also prepare plant for Planned Maintenance tasks as required. The Operations Technician will also be expected to enter all data into a computer-based system to record plant performance.
In addition, the Operations Technician will carry out some first line preventative maintenance activities on the equipment with the support of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. This can include tasks such as cleaning/calibration of process instruments, changing over pumps/equipment duty, greasing/lubrication and changing filters.
All necessary training will be provided but itβs critical that the candidate can demonstrate a willingness to learn. This is a Flexitime role and the Technician will be free to carry out the work at a time that suits them but it is expected that the Technician will work outside these hours if required i.e. to facilitate client & contractor visits etc. As part of this role, the applicant will also provide βon callβ plant cover and may be required to respond to any alarms / attend site, if necessary.
If the candidate can demonstrate the ability to carry out higher level Maintenance activities or commits to taking on these responsibilities, the company is prepared to provide an increased renumeration package and fund the additional training that may be necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work within the client and Company Quality, Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systems
Visible ownership on HSE issues.
Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and our company.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, Company employees and sub-contractor staff.
Apply a Continuous improvement mindset to make the plant more reliable and deliver greater value to the customer.
Find faults, identify solutions & carry out basic repairs.
Gather all plant information and complete plant logs to understand how the WWTP is performing.
Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team
Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems. Working with the site manager and Technical team, implement changes to return the plant to its optimum operating condition.
Keep the plant safe and tidy using good housekeeping practices
Work unsupervised & maintain a proactive attitude
Undergo training as required and identify training needs
Take on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require.

Working for us means:
The salary is between Β£26,000 β Β£31,000 (pro-rata- Β£13,000 β Β£15,500).
Hours of Work β 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Overtime β will be paid at 1.5.
Holidays β 25 days + 8 statutory days (pro-rata)
Probationary Period β 6 months
Pension β Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months β Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice
Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation
Eligible for Death in Service benefit (4 x basic salary) and Group Income Protection upon commencement of employment
Notice β 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter
