Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free‐of‐charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire, and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch. It costs over £5.6 million each year to run the Hospice, with only around 20% of funding provided through statutory sources. Supported by over 400 volunteers, our retail operation plays a vital role in helping us continue delivering compassionate care across our communities.

About the Role

Nightingale House Hospice is seeking an experienced, commercially focused and values‐driven Head of Retail to lead and develop our growing retail operation. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will provide leadership and direction across our retail estate, Ecommerce, Reuse and Logistics operations, driving sustainable sales and profit growth while ensuring high operational standards and strong supporter engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Area Manager, Ecommerce Manager, Reuse Manager and Flagship Manager
  • Drive retail sales, profitability and operational performance
  • Drive the continued growth of Ecommerce and online trading
  • Lead future retail development opportunities including shop openings, relocations and investment projects
  • Use KPIs, reporting and commercial insight to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Lead a positive, inclusive and high‐performing retail culture
  • Ensure excellent customer experience and retail standards across the estate
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Fundraising, Lottery, Finance and wider Hospice teams

About You

  • Significant experience within a senior multi‐site retail management role
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of retail KPIs, profitability and operational performance
  • Experience leading and developing teams within a fast‐paced retail environment
  • Experience managing budgets, operational costs and performance reporting
  • Strong understanding of customer experience, merchandising and stock management
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • A collaborative, supportive and solutions‐focused approach
