We have two care homes, Nightingale House in Clapham and Hammerson House in East Finchley. Nightingale House offers a warm and comfortable environment, with personalised care that centralises the needs of the residents, with on-site therapists, dieticians, and a wealth of activities for residents to enjoy. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide Manicure Services to Residents: Nail trimming, filing, buffing, cuticle care, and polish application; Basic hand massage as appropriate and approved; Adapt services for elderly or frail residents with medical or mobility concerns.
  • Ensure Health and Hygiene Standards: Sanitize all tools and equipment between clients; Follow infection control procedures in line with care home policies and public health guidance; Use single-use items where appropriate (e.g., nail files, buffers).
  • Maintain Resident Dignity and Respect: Be patient, gentle, and mindful of residents' comfort; Respect privacy, personal preferences, and religious considerations (e.g., modesty, touch sensitivity).
  • Cultural and Religious Sensitivity: Schedule appointments around Shabbat and Jewish holidays; Respect dietary and ritual restrictions (e.g., not bringing non-kosher items into care home premises); Be mindful of male/female interaction rules where relevant (e.g., a female manicurist for female residents).
  • Communication and Record-Keeping: Log visits and services provided for each resident (for internal records or billing); Communicate professionally with staff and family members if needed; Report any health concerns noticed (e.g., fungal infections, circulation issues) to nursing staff.
  • Compliance and Training: Attend any required care home induction sessions; Participate in ongoing training regarding elder care, safeguarding, or dementia awareness if required.

Requirements for Contracted Manicurist

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must hold current and adequate indemnity insurance covering services provided in a care home setting. Proof of insurance must be provided before starting and upon renewal.
  • References: Provide at least two professional references, preferably from similar settings (e.g., care homes, medical salons). References will be checked for reliability, professionalism, and suitability.
