We have an excellent opportunity at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital, Coventry for an experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist.
Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is a 44 bed hospital comprising of three wards that provide acute, PICU and rehabilitation services for men in the West Midlands.
Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment. We’re focused on length of stay and making sure individuals move as quickly and safely as possible from our services to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.
Job Role
We are seeking academically strong candidates to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at the service by assisting the Head of Psychology with:
- Psychological assessment including psychometric administration
- Risk assessment and management
- Clinical formulation and implementing care plans for psychological care and treatment
- Working with colleagues to provide integrated, whole person treatment and care
- Planning, delivering and evaluating individual/group programmes
- Administration, audit, research and service development
Candidate Profile
You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you’ll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable. Previous experience of working within mental health services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and/or group therapy sessions is desirable. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development. We also offer an excellent Assistant Psychologist Development Programme to support our Assistant Psychologist’s continuing professional development.
