We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our growing finance team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance within an ambitious and fast-paced, multi-site hospitality business. You will support the Accounts Payable function, helping to ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time. You'll work closely with suppliers, venue teams and colleagues across the wider finance department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice Processing
    • Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
    • Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation where required.
    • Ensure invoices are correctly coded and authorised.
    • Resolve invoice queries and discrepancies.
  • Supplier Management
    • Respond to supplier enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
    • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
    • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate differences.
    • Assist in resolving aged creditor balances.
  • Payments
    • Support the preparation of weekly supplier payment runs.
    • Ensure supplier records are maintained accurately.
    • Assist with urgent and ad hoc payments when required.
  • Financial Control
    • Maintain accurate and organised records.
    • Support month-end close activities relating to accounts payable.
    • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with company procedures and financial controls.
  • Team Support
    • Work closely with venue managers and department heads to resolve queries.
    • Support wider finance team projects and process improvements.
    • Assist with audit requests and information gathering when required.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and other business systems.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Some previous experience in an accounts payable, finance administration or bookkeeping role.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience within hospitality, retail or a multi-site business.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Access Financials, Netsuite or similar.
  • Studying towards AAT or looking to begin a finance qualification.
