National business is seeking a hands-on Head of IT to lead and evolve its technology function at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation. This is a senior, operational leadership role with real scope to influence how technology, including how AI is embedded across a large, multi-site organisation.
The Role
- Working closely with senior leaders across Operations, Finance, HR and Commercial, you will be responsible for ensuring stability today whilst building capability for tomorrow.
- Providing visible, practical leadership, you will:
- Lead and develop a team covering software, data and IT operations.
- Ensure continuity, resilience and performance of business-critical systems.
- Oversee all in-house development (full-stack, cloud-based, API-driven).
- Champion modern engineering practices, including integrating AI into business processes.
- Own system reliability, security, data protection and access controls.
- Manage third-party suppliers and partners.
- Ensure appropriate governance without unnecessary bureaucracy.
The Person
- As an experienced technology leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and being close to delivery, you will possess:
- Strong leadership background in managing broad tech functions.
- Experience overseeing modern, cloud-based technology stacks.
- Proficiency in managing infrastructure, security, service management and risk.
- A practical exposure to AI/MI, ideally with experience implementing AI into a commercial environment.
