Nigel Wright are currently recruiting a Management Accountant for an instantly recognisable FMCG business based in Merseyside. The Management Accountant position requires a candidate with strong systems expertise and a passion for driving change. The business we’re representing are currently undergoing a significant transformation programme and are seeking a talented finance professional to enhance reporting, improving data quality, and supporting business‑critical decision making.
This is a highly visible role that combines core management accounting responsibilities with finance transformation, systems improvement, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will help shape and develop reporting solutions, improve financial data flows, and deliver meaningful insight to senior leaders across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the finance transformation programme, acting as a key contributor to systems and process improvements.
- Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, analysing performance against actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
- Deliver clear and insightful commentary on variances, highlighting key business drivers and trends.
- Support the month‑end close process, ensuring financial information is complete and accurate.
- Investigate and resolve reporting discrepancies, errors, and data integrity issues through detailed root cause analysis.
- Manage cost centre reporting and provide meaningful analysis to budget holders and senior stakeholders.
- Develop and enhance reporting solutions capable of supporting multiple reporting frameworks and business requirements.
- Understand, review, and improve data flows between finance systems and reporting outputs.
- Produce and distribute regular financial reporting packs to support operational and strategic decision making.
- Partner and influence stakeholders across the business to improve commercial insight, financial recommendations, reporting quality and consistency.
About You
- Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with strong management accounting experience.
- Demonstrable experience working with finance systems, reporting tools, and data‑driven finance environments.
- Previous involvement in finance transformation, systems implementation, or process improvement initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of month‑end processes, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Strong cost centre reporting and business partnering capabilities.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with large, complex data sets.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior decision makers.
