The role
As Head of Membership Engagement, you will join the Senior Leadership Team and take strategic responsibility for membership growth and engagement alongside marketing and communications.
You will lead an experienced team, providing clear direction while giving people the autonomy and support to do their best work.
This is not simply a membership management role, at its heart, it is about bringing a strong strategic marketing, acquisition and growth mindset to an established organisation.
You will look at who its current audiences are, how they engage, what activity is delivering results and where the opportunities lie to attract and engage the next generation.
You will have the opportunity to shape strategy, influence at leadership and Board level and bring together data, insight, marketing and communications to support sustainable growth, without losing sight of the values and loyal community that have made the organisation successful.

- Using audience insight and data to identify opportunities to reach and engage new audiences.
- Reviewing the marketing mix and understanding where investment and activity are generating the greatest impact.
- Developing an effective multichannel approach, balancing digital development with traditional channels that remain important to existing audiences.
- Strengthening the use of CRM, data and insight across member engagement and marketing.
- Leading marketing and communications strategy across digital, content, social and wider channels.

- Leading, developing and empowering an experienced multidisciplinary team.
- Playing an active role within the wider Senior Leadership Team and contributing to organisational strategy.
- Bringing the organisation's international impact to life through compelling communications and storytelling.
About you
You don't necessarily need to come from a membership organisation.
What is more important is that you are an approachable manager and senior marketing and engagement leader who understands audiences, acquisition and growth, and can combine creative thinking with strong commercial and analytical judgement.
You will ideally bring
- Strong strategic marketing experience, particularly across acquisition, audience development and growth.
- A track record of developing successful multichannel marketing or engagement strategies.
- Strong people leadership skills and the ability to empower an experienced team while providing direction, accountability and constructive challenge.
- Confidence working with budgets, data and performance information and turning this into clear strategic recommendations.
- Experience operating at senior leadership level, with Board or senior stakeholder exposure advantageous.
- An understanding of CRM, digital engagement and how customer or member insight can inform strategy.
- The ability to operate comfortably in a smaller organisation where collaboration, pragmatism and getting involved really matter.
- Most importantly, genuine motivation to work for an organisation where purpose and positive impact sit at the heart of what it does.
