The Role
We are delighted to be partnering with BWS Group to appoint their first Group HR Manager — a pivotal hire who will lead and professionalise the HR function as the organisation continues its rapid growth. This role represents a rare opportunity to shape a modern, scalable people function from the ground up, directly influencing operational performance and future organisational design. This is a hands‑on, operationally focused position requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent UK employment law knowledge, and experience supporting field‑based engineering or service teams. The successful candidate will balance strategic HR leadership with practical day‑to‑day delivery, ensuring BWS Group attracts, develops, and retains the talent needed to scale safely, compliantly, and sustainably. The role is office‑based in Bath, with travel to other sites as required.
What You’ll Deliver:
- Design and embed a scalable, modern HR framework that supports a fast‑growing, multi‑site organisation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, providing commercial, pragmatic people guidance.
- Elevate recruitment, retention and performance management, ensuring the business attracts and develops high‑quality talent.
- Strengthen compliance and employment law practices, proactively managing ER risk across all sites.
- Develop management capability across operational and support teams through coaching, tools and structured processes.
- Embed a consistent culture and leadership standard, reinforcing the values and behaviours needed for sustainable growth.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
Essential Experience
- Senior HR generalist experience (HR Manager / Senior HR Business Partner)
- Experience supporting a growing SME or mid-sized business
- Strong UK employment law knowledge
- Experience working with operational, blue-collar, or engineering workforces
- Hands-on approach — comfortable being both strategic and operational
- Experience advising senior leaders and line managers
Desirable Experience
- Experience in fire, security, construction, facilities management, utilities, or engineering services
- Experience supporting multi-site or field-based teams
- Exposure to TUPE, acquisitions, or rapid growth environments
- CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 (or equivalent experience)
