Company Nigel Wright is delighted to be supporting a successful, growth orientated manufacturing business in North Yorkshire in the recruitment of a marketing manager. The role will be office based for the first 3 months, moving to hybrid working after 3 months, with the option to work 3 days from the office, 2 from home.

About the Role: We are seeking a driven, dynamic, and experienced Marketing Manager to join our client’s team and play a pivotal role in achieving significant growth ambitions. The successful candidate will further develop and lead the marketing and communications function.

Role Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Management: Lead and manage a small team of marketing personnel, including subcontractors in the UK and potentially other territories. Develop and execute the group marketing strategy in line with the company’s growth ambitions and sales strategy. Set, monitor, and manage leading growth KPIs such as lead generation, digital engagement, and opportunity generation.
  • Marketing Strategy & Execution: Oversee all aspects of marketing, including brand development and management across all markets, market research, campaigns, product launches/go-to-market strategies, digital marketing, content creation, and events & exhibitions management. Formulate and execute go-to-market and product launch strategies for new products in emerging application markets. Proactively preselect and recommend suitable exhibitions, seminars, and networking events, collaborating with the sales teams to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Brand & Digital Marketing: Raise brand awareness with appropriate and cost-effective sophisticated mass-market campaigns while ensuring the brand message is strong and consistent across all channels. Ensure the website and digital marketing provide an excellent user experience tailored to the needs of diverse markets. Maintain and develop brand value and its positioning.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Research markets and applications of interest and lead market sprint report generation and detailed market feasibility reports in cooperation with the sales and product functions. Analyse core and future market positioning and develop a communication strategy to reach market goals (e.g., white papers, presentations, sponsorship). Monitor key competitor activities in terms of media presence, market feedback, and new product introductions/improvements.
  • Collaboration & Compliance: Fulfill the role of Defence subject matter expert (SME) within the marketing team to ensure close collaboration with the sales team to shape and deliver growth strategies. Manage relevant trade bodies, industry associations, and associated memberships. Ensure compliance with applicable legal and statutory requirements such as copyright and GDPR legislation.
  • Budget & ROI Management: Forecast and track budgets and ROI on marketing activities while ensuring financial and resource decisions are made in the best interests of the group. Support the wider business with marketing activities, such as recruitment and internal marketing of events.

Experience: Proven experience in a marketing management role ideally within the defence sector. Technical acumen and experience within a dynamic marketing environment for products of varying technical complexity. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful marketing strategies. Proficiency in using CRM systems, particularly Salesforce. Excellent analytical and organisational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
