Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, based in the North East, designing and delivering safety-critical, high-reliability products used in regulated environments. Operating as a dynamic engineering business, they combine deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, hands-on culture.
The organisation is entering an important phase of development, with a focus on structured product development, disciplined launch into manufacture and long-term product performance, alongside opportunities in both established and emerging markets.
This is a key Product Development Engineer role, created to strengthen the journey from product development through to manufacture and in-service support. You will act as a technical focal point for core product lines, taking ownership of product improvement, launch readiness and technical problem-solving. Working closely with senior technical leadership, manufacturing and commercial stakeholders, you will:
- Own and develop products from concept through to production release
- Bring structure, discipline and best practice to product launch and manufacturing readiness
- Act as a subject matter expert for assigned products, supporting tenders, proposals and customer discussions where required
- Ensure products remain compliant with relevant safety, regulatory and cyber standards
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, test specifications and design records
This is a genuine opportunity to influence how products are developed and launched, rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
You will be an engineer who enjoys getting products over the line and into manufacture, not just designing them. You are likely to bring:
- Proven experience in product development or product engineering
- Experience taking products from development into manufacture, including test, validation and release
- A structured engineering mindset, potentially gained in environments such as automotive, safety-critical, regulated products
- Broad technical understanding across engineered systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
If you are a Product Development Engineer looking for a role where you can genuinely shape products, improve how they are launched and work closely with decision-makers, we’d love to speak with you. Apply now or contact us for a confidential discussion to find out more.
