This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, purpose-driven SaaS business that is transforming how large organisations communicate with and engage their employees. Following significant investment, the business is entering its next phase of growth and already works with some of the UK’s best-known consumer and enterprise brands. Its platform helps organisations create smarter, more personalised internal communications and better-connected employee experiences. The culture is collaborative, ambitious and product-focused, with engineering playing a central role in the company's growth plans. The business operates a hybrid model, with this role requiring 2 days per week in the Newcastle city centre office.
As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you'll take a leading role in developing user-facing features across an established SaaS platform. You'll have genuine influence over front-end architecture and technical direction, working closely with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to turn complex requirements into scalable, accessible and high-performing experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing responsive front-end components, primarily using React
- Taking ownership of front-end architecture decisions and contributing to longer-term technical strategy
- Working closely with product and design teams on complex UI/UX challenges
- Championing performance, accessibility and responsive design
- Producing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
- Mentoring other developers and helping raise engineering standards
- Contributing to continuous improvement across engineering practices
The wider environment includes TypeScript, Vue.js, .NET/C#, RESTful APIs, Playwright, Git, CI/CD and Azure DevOps.
We're looking for an experienced front-end engineer who combines strong hands-on development skills with the ability to influence technical decisions and support others. You'll ideally bring:
- 5+ years' front-end development experience
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
- A solid understanding of front-end architecture, design patterns and component-based applications
- Experience with Vue.js, or the ability to work comfortably across modern JavaScript frameworks
- Knowledge of Git, Agile delivery, CI/CD and DevOps practices
- A strong understanding of web performance, accessibility and responsive design
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product and design colleagues
This would particularly suit someone who still enjoys being hands-on with code, but wants broader ownership of architecture, engineering quality and the development of the people around them.
