Broadacres is seeking a Financial Services Manager to lead its core financial operations and transform how services, systems and processes support colleagues, customers and communities across rural North Yorkshire.
Financial Services Manager
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will lead a knowledgeable and established Financial Services team and lead on modernising processes in line with the wider transformation agenda.
Your remit will encompass accounts payable, cashbook and banking, payroll and pensions, finance systems, procurement and insurance.
However, the opportunity extends well beyond maintaining effective day-to-day operations.
You will have the mandate to examine how work is done, make better use of technology and automation, strengthen controls and create services that are simpler, more responsive and more efficient.
Key priorities
- Lead accurate, well-controlled cashbook, banking, payment and accounts payable services.
- Deliver an accurate and compliant payroll and pension administration service in partnership with the People Team.
- Own and develop core finance systems, strengthening user controls, integration, documentation, upgrades and automation.
- Maintain appropriate, cost-effective insurance cover and manage renewals, claims and broker relationships.
- Develop procurement policy, guidance, tendering support and contract oversight, while building manager capability.
- Embed strong controls, excellent internal customer service and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Financial Services team.
About You
You will be an experienced financial operations manager with strong knowledge of transactional finance, banking and payroll.
You will combine sound financial control with the drive to simplify processes, improve systems and deliver a responsive service.
A confident and supportive leader, you will be comfortable developing an established team.
You will also be an effective stakeholder manager, able to turn technical requirements into practical solutions.
You will bring
- Experience leading and developing a financial operations team.
- Evidence of improving processes, controls or systems.
- Knowledge of payroll, including legislation, reconciliations and statutory requirements.
- Strong Excel and broader financial systems capability.
- Clear judgement, attention to detail and a collaborative leadership style.
- Experience of procurement, insurance, contract management or social housing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
