The CompanyNW Tech is delighted to be partnering with a North East based tech business in their search for a Senior Data Engineer. Taking ownership of the company's data platform, you'll ensure data is reliably ingested, transformed and made available for reporting, analytics and business decision making.
The Role
You'll inherit an established platform built around Snowflake, AWS, SQLMesh, BigQuery and Omni with the autonomy to improve and evolve it as the company continues to expand. Key responsibilities include:
- Own and evolve the data platform including pipelines, transformations, warehouse architecture and operational reliability
- Design, build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines and reusable data models
- Build trusted datasets that support reporting, self-service analytics and business decision making
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product and business teams where system or product changes affect data
- Help shape the technical roadmap and identify technical debt, operational risk and opportunities to improve the platform
The Requirements
Key requirements:
- Strong commercial Data Engineering experience and the confidence to take ownership of an existing production platform
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Good understanding of modern cloud data warehouses and data modelling
- Good engineering practises around Git, testing and deployment
- Snowflake and AWS experience is desirable but not essential
