The Opportunity:
Our client, a large, complex, manufacturing multinational, is seeking a Group Project Controller to join their team in Darlington. Reporting directly to a senior Group finance leader, you'll play a key role in evaluating strategic projects, capital investments and business transformation initiatives across an international organisation.

This is a highly visible position, offering exposure to senior stakeholders, international projects and complex commercial decision-making. You'll work closely with project and operational teams to develop business cases, challenge assumptions and help shape the future direction of the business.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver robust business cases for strategic projects and capital investments.
  • Build financial models including scenario planning, sensitivity analysis and investment appraisals.
  • Partner with operational, commercial and project stakeholders to understand project requirements and assumptions.
  • Challenge and validate financial and operational inputs to support high-quality decision making.
  • Track project costs, savings and benefits against approved plans.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting and long-term planning activities relating to project investments.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to senior leadership and project steering groups.
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with project delivery and expected returns.
  • Contribute to regular project governance, reporting and review meetings.
  • Support post-investment reviews and benefits realisation activities across the project portfolio.

You Will Be/Have:

  • Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience within Finance, Accounting or Controlling.
  • Experience gained within a manufacturing, engineering or other operationally focused environment.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience preparing business cases, investment appraisals or project-related financial analysis.
  • A solid understanding of operational drivers and manufacturing performance metrics.
  • The ability to engage, influence and challenge stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial information.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A proactive and commercially focused approach to problem solving.
  • An interest in supporting international projects and working across a global business environment.
