Nigel James Associates are working exclusively to help our client secure an Area Director which will oversee a portfolio of offices across either the Southeast or Southwest of England. This is a genuine leadership opportunity at a senior level in the company, with real equity participation and the autonomy to lead in the way you believe is right.

The role:

  • Take overall leadership responsibility for four to five offices, with Heads of Office/Team Leaders reporting into you, overseeing c25 Financial Planners across your teams.
  • Maintain momentum across your region; fixing problems, supporting teams, knowing when to enforce structure and when to step back and let entrepreneurial teams flourish.
  • Coach and mentor the Head of Office/Team Leaders, supporting their personal development and helping them grow as leaders in their own right.
  • Monitor and support new business inflow and regional performance, ensuring KPIs and OKRs are met.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for the leadership team in your region, leading executive communications and business planning.
  • Liaise with compliance, people, and training functions to coordinate regional performance and people matters.
  • Ideally, retain a small number of clients to stay close to the reality of advice delivery, maintaining empathy and credibility with your teams.

What we're looking for:

  • Chartered Financial Planner status (or equivalent) with an expert understanding of the industry.
  • A minimum of five years' experience managing financial planners, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable with pace, complexity and a devolved, decentralised leadership model - this business deliberately avoids micromanagement and needs leaders who can think for themselves.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to instil a client-first culture across your teams.
  • An approved supervisor with a current SPS and up-to-date CPD.
  • Can be based anywhere in the South of England, with willingness to travel regularly between office locations.

What's on offer:

  • Salary of £100,000-£130,000.
  • Discretionary bonus with OTE earnings of circa £140,000-£175,000.
  • Equity participation.
  • The autonomy to lead a significant regional operation within a business that is genuinely going places.

This is a rare opportunity to join a business with strong foundations, a clear growth agenda and the leadership culture to match. If you thrive in complex, fast moving environments and want to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a national financial planning business, we’d love to hear from you.
