We are recruiting a Senior Data Engineering Manager to join a global organisation delivering large-scale, high-profile projects, currently investing heavily in its Data & AI capabilities. This is a key leadership role within a growing global function, responsible for guiding engineering teams and vendor partners to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions. This is a hands‑off leadership position, focused on people management, delivery assurance, governance and capability building rather than day‑to‑day technical contribution. You will play a pivotal role in creating the conditions for predictable delivery, strong engineering standards and long‑term operational success across a modern Microsoft data ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a globally distributed data engineering team ensuring alignment, performance and clear direction
  • Own engineering delivery, quality standards and sprint discipline across multiple squads
  • Work closely with IT, product and transformation teams to align priorities and unblock delivery
  • Develop and coach engineering leaders, strengthening internal capability and leadership maturity
  • Oversee vendor and offshore teams, ensuring quality, value and alignment to best practice
  • Drive continuous improvement across tooling, processes and engineering practices
  • Champion a collaborative, data-driven culture across the organisation

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Data Engineering Manager / Head of Data Engineering / Engineering Lead)
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and team leads
  • Strong background delivering data solutions across Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Power Platform
  • Experience working within multi-vendor or offshore delivery models
  • Excellent communication and senior stakeholder management skills
