We are seeking an experienced and proactive Agile Delivery Lead to guide our 15‑person AWS DevOps Platform team (split across 3 x pods), for a government client. This role bridges the gap between agile process facilitation (Scrum Master) and strategic delivery planning (Project Manager). You will lead the team in building, maintaining, and scaling our AWS infrastructure, ensuring high reliability, security, and velocity through CI/CD best practices.
The ideal candidate has a technical background in DevOps, understands the complexities of cloud engineering, and can drive accountability while cultivating a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
Responsibilities and Skills- Delivery Leadership: Own the end‑to‑end delivery of the platform road‑map, managing dependencies across multiple product squads, managing risks, and providing transparent reporting to stakeholders.
- Agile Facilitation: Lead Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Retrospectives, Product Backlog Refinement) for a large team, ensuring continuous flow and adherence to Scrum/Kanban principles.
- Impediment Removal: Proactively identify and remove technical, process, or organisational blockers to maintain team momentum and protect sprint commitments.
- DevOps Culture & Process: Guide the team in adopting DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and monitoring, ensuring quality and security standards are met.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering leadership to define technical vision, prioritise backlogs, and align on deliverables.
- Metrics‑Driven Improvement: Track and analyse key DevOps and team metrics (e.g., Velocity, Cycle Time, Change Failure Rate, Deployment Frequency) to drive continuous improvement.
- Mentorship: Coach the team on agile mindset, foster self‑organisations, and promote a culture of accountability.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Technical Project Manager, preferably in a DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure environment.
- Technical Understanding: Solid understanding of AWS services (e.g. EC2, S3, IAM, EKS, RDS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, particularly in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment.
- Tools: Proficient in Jira or similar Agile project management tools.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and senior stakeholders.
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), or PMP certification.
- Prior experience as a Software or DevOps Engineer.
