We’re hiring an experienced Principal Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join a leading public sector organisation undergoing a major cloud transformation programme. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to lead the organisation's Azure, Microsoft 365 and cyber security environments while managing a small technical team. You’ll play a key role in shaping cloud strategy, driving operational excellence and ensuring critical systems remain secure, resilient and fit for the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, design and lifecycle management of Azure cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365 and identity platforms
  • Own Azure infrastructure including networking, compute, storage, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery
  • Lead cyber security operations, vulnerability management, incident response and compliance activities alongside external security partners
  • Manage and develop a small infrastructure team, providing technical leadership and mentoring
  • Drive cloud transformation projects, supporting the migration of legacy infrastructure into modern Azure environments
  • Manage Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, RBAC and identity management services
  • Develop and improve IT Service Management processes, including Change Management, Asset Management and CMDB administration

Essential Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure cloud environments
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune and identity management technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, compute, storage, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery
  • Experience managing infrastructure teams or providing technical leadership
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and Azure Cloud Shell
