Student Design Engineer (12-month placement, September 2025)
Overview of Role:
- Relationships:
Responsible to: Engineering Manager
Liaison with: Design & Project Engineers Niftylift MK, NPD Project Engineers, Design Engineers Niftylift Hoyland, Production Engineers, Quality, Production and Purchasing - Main Purpose of Job:
To support the development and maintenance of bespoke equipment, jigs, fixtures, design systems, and procedures in line with Niftylift standards. - Main Tasks of Job:
Liaise with Design and Project Engineers Niftylift MK or contracted service providers to develop and maintain design controls to Niftylift Standards.
Support the design of jigs, fixtures, and bespoke equipment cost-effectively while ensuring quality and robustness.
Create bills of materials for all designs.
Collaborate with senior design engineers to ensure compliance with all machine directives and CE regulations.
Develop and maintain jigs and fixture designs, models, 2D drawings, calibration requirements, etc., to Niftylift Standards.
Liaise with Fabrication Validation Engineer to analyze capability, functionality, and improve new jigs and fixtures for production readiness.
Develop and maintain drawing control processes for jigs and fixtures at Hoyland, following Niftylift Standards.
Coordinate with NPD Project Engineers (Hoyland) to ensure project delivery on time.
Manage drawing issue control for jigs and fixtures to meet project timelines and discuss at project meetings.

Working towards an engineering/design degree.
Experience with 3D and 2D CAD software (preferably CREO or equivalent).
Background in design bias with jigs and fixture development and control. - Characteristics:
