Main Purpose of Job

Provide Quality Assurance support to production areas of assigned responsibility. Facilitate and deliver the development of robust preventative actions using proven problem‑solving techniques of in‑process quality concerns. Ensuring all in‑process quality concerns are contained within the area affected and are not passed on to the next process. Promoting a no‑fault forward attitude always. Maintain accurate data for Management KPI's for accurate and effective decision making.

Main Tasks of Job

  • Post‑Welding Inspection Responsibilities
    • Perform Visual Testing (VT) of completed welds
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Evaluation welds against acceptance criteria
    • Identify, size and characterise weld discontinuities
    • Re‑inspect repaired welds
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Prepare and review inspection and NDT reports
    • Record weld inspection results, defect locations, and repair status
    • Maintain traceability records for materials, welders, and procedures
    • Issue Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required
    • Communicate results clearly
  • Audits and Measurement
    • Perform Weld Audits on designated bay of responsibility
    • Perform Process audits on designated bay of responsibility
    • Perform Dimensional measurement audits on fixtures within the manufacturing process
    • Measurement of production and development Parts, Products and fixtures
    • Perform Inspection of Goods inwards, In‑process and finished product
    • Perform Final Pre‑Delivery Inspection of Assembled chassis and Sections
    • Performing Calibration of measurement equipment
  • Issue Containment and Support
    • Raising of Concern notes for internal defective products
    • Performing Containment of defective parts and products
    • Provide support and expertise to designated production bays of responsibility promoting a culture of no‑fault forward
    • Actively identifying areas of improvement to reduce Scrap and rework of parts
  • 5S Understanding, Implementation and improvement
    • Effective root cause analysis using proven techniques (5why, Ishikawa)
    • Attend Stakeholder meetings for Designated bays of responsibility and provide timely feedback and complete actions to agreed time scales
    • Working with the Team Leader of designated bay of responsibility providing day to day support for the elimination of secondary inspection, drive improvements with the team for operator inspection and reduce NVA costs
    • Perform any other reasonable manager's request to ensure production targets are achieved
    • Flexibility to ensure targets are met
  • Provide Quality Control support to Manufacturing areas, conduct inspection, collect measurement data, and ensure quality control documents are available to operators
  • Support Quality Assurance Engineers and Team Leaders in implementing preventative solutions to Quality concerns
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and auditing of Quality Control Procedures
  • Conduct "patrol" inspection assisting operators in identifying non‑conforming processes to standards and identifying rework requirements
  • Performing immediate containment of reported defective products

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of two GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4 including Maths and English.
  • Computer literate - with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail and strong reporting skills
  • Good communication and decision-making abilities
