While the precise duties and responsibilities of an HPTO Electrical Building Services Design Engineer post will vary, it will involve varying degrees of the following activities/responsibilities.
- Feasibility, design and contract managing the installation of electrical building services works projects (up to a value of £500k); typical electrical designs may include the following electrical building services:
- Fixed electrical wiring
- General & emergency lighting
- Fire alarm & associated fire safety systems
- Door access systems
- Standby electrical power systems
Skills and Qualifications
- A Level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering AND a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design of electrical services within buildings.
- OR A Level 5 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering AND a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the design of electrical services within buildings.
- OR A Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering AND a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the design of electrical services within buildings.
- Access to a form of transport so that the post holder can meet the full requirements of the post. Note that this includes regular visits to a wide range of sites (sometimes several sites in one day) which are spread across Northern Ireland.
