I am partnering with a global public safety technology provider who are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their team in Manchester. This is an opportunity to take ownership of both the technical direction and the development of a close-knit engineering group, while collaborating with colleagues across the UK and US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the focal technical person and face of the company for technical direction and strategy
  • Shape the long-term roadmap for your team and the wider product portfolio, working hand-in-hand with senior stakeholders.
  • Own delivery end-to-end: sprint planning, release cycles, backlog prioritisation, and unblocking the team when challenges arise.
  • Bridge UK and US engineering teams to keep technology and business objectives aligned.
  • Grow engineers through coaching, pairing, constructive feedback, and well-judged delegation of ownership.
  • Run regular 1:1s, set clear expectations, and champion career progression within an inclusive, supportive culture.
  • Collaborate closely with teams to delivery projects efficiently and on time

Key Skills:

  • A minimum of seven years in professional software engineering.
  • Depth of experience building and running frontend and backend services, distributed systems, and integrations.
  • A proven record of technical leadership on complex builds including architecture, design reviews, and implementation strategy.

  • Strong delivery track record built on cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and cloud-native practices.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering up to £160,000 depending on experience, with hybrid working from their Central Manchester office (minimum three days per week on-site, sometimes 4). Their is an extensive benefits package on offer with performance related bonus.

Due to the nature of the projects/data you'll be working on, you will require SC/NPPV clearance.
