We are working with a UK-based prop-tech business building a production-grade autonomous AI agent platform used by professionals in a high-transaction environment. They are looking for Senior AI Engineers to take a hands-on role in the design and delivery of agentic AI systems, focused on workflow automation, intelligent decision support, and deep integration with an existing commercial platform. This is a delivery-focused contract role with genuine architectural responsibility.
Role Overview
You will design and implement autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents that operate across customer workflows, ingest transactional data, and generate actionable insights. The work is firmly production-oriented; this is not a research or experimentation role.
Key Responsibilities
- Agentic AI & Automation
- Design and implement AI agent architectures for autonomous task execution
- Build self-learning workflows driven by user interaction and transactional data
- Implement multi-agent patterns and AI-augmented automation (including RPA where appropriate)
- Ensure security, data isolation and compliance are embedded at platform level
- AI-Driven Insights
- Develop systems for customer data analysis, trend detection and anomaly identification
- Deliver practical use cases such as lead qualification, task prioritisation and operational automation
- Platform Engineering
- Build and maintain production-ready AI services across front-end and back-end systems
- Work with TypeScript/JavaScript, .NET and/or Python on AWS
- Integrate AI services with internal platforms and third-party APIs
- Implement monitoring for agent behaviour, model performance and cost control
Required Experience
- 10+ years commercial software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and .NET
- Proven experience working with LLM platforms / frameworks (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, etc.)
- AWS experience - Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, CloudFormation/CDK
- Strong database experience, including MySQL and data pipelines
- Direct experience building autonomous agents, intelligent workflows, multi-agent systems or RPA
- Strong understanding of API design, system integration and software architecture
Nice to Have
- Experience with NLP or applied ML
- Exposure to MLOps, model evaluation or A/B testing
- Microservices and event-driven architectures
- Awareness of data privacy and AI security considerations
