We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team, preferably with Mercedes Benz experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of equipment and machinery across our operations. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with electrical systems, and the ability to work with a range of hand and power tools. The Mechanic will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth functioning of our equipment, to support ongoing operational efficiency. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for technical work and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on machinery and equipment to prevent breakdowns.
  • Take the Lorries and trailers to MOT tests as well as PMI/Brake tests.
  • Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, then perform necessary repairs (STAR, XENTRY).
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and other fabrication techniques.
  • Repair or replace mechanical components, including assemblies and hand tools.
  • Operate power tools safely and efficiently during maintenance tasks.
  • Perform welding and electrical repairs to ensure machinery operates safely and effectively.
  • Assist with the assembly of new equipment or modifications to existing machinery.
  • Utilize heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large parts or equipment.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair and maintenance with Mercedes lorries.
  • Proficiency in fabrication, welding, soldering, and working with schematics.
  • Electrical experience is highly desirable for troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
  • Experience in assembly work and the use of various mechanical tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
