An established civil engineering contractor is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting construction schemes, term service contracts and framework agreements across the South East. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially sharp QS with strong experience in NEC contracts, target cost projects, term service contracts and SOR-based quotations. You’ll play a key role in managing cost, maximising value and supporting the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects.
The Role
- You’ll take ownership of commercial management across a range of schemes, from preconstruction through to final account.
- Working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors, you’ll be responsible for accurate reporting, forecasting, procurement support, cost/value management and contract compliance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monitoring project costs and maximising value across schemes
- Preparing cost/value reports, forecasts and monthly account reviews
- Managing financial assessments through to final agreement
- Supporting procurement and preconstruction activities
- Producing task quotations using SOR under term service contracts
- Working with NEC contracts, including target cost arrangements
- Using systems such as Excel and CEMAR
- Attending site visits to measure works, review progress and assess risk
- Monitoring subcontractor performance and compliance with specifications and RAMS
- Keeping reporting, correspondence and deadlines on track
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Strong experience working under NEC conditions of contract
- Previous target cost and term service contract experience
- Experience preparing task quotations using SOR
- A degree, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
- RICS accreditation, or working towards it, would be an advantage
- Strong Excel skills and experience using CEMAR
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
