A leading residential housebuilder based in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and supporting continued growth across the region. This is a senior leadership position offering high visibility, strategic influence, and the opportunity to work closely with the executive team on commercial decision-making.
The Role
- Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Head of Finance will be responsible for leading the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, and providing insightful analysis to support land acquisition, development appraisals, and operational performance.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture
- Full responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
- Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts and board packs
- Supporting land bids, site appraisals, and investment decisions with detailed financial analysis
- Overseeing statutory accounts, audits, and tax compliance
- Driving improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls
- Acting as a strategic business partner to operational and commercial teams
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within residential housebuilding, construction, or property development
- Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting complex, multi-site operations
- Confident leader with the ability to influence at board and senior management level
- Hands-on, detail-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
