You will be responsible for managing a fleet of vehicles and coordinating drivers to meet the company’s daily operational requirements. You will manage drivers’ workloads effectively, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met. Working closely with the Transport Administration team, you will coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and ensure the smooth running of all logistics activities. You will also address transport and operational issues promptly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Route Planning: Plan daily schedules for skip loader vehicles, ensuring efficient delivery, exchange, and collection across the service area.
- AI & Optimization: Utilise AI systems to generate efficient routes, applying sharp decision-making skills to manually intervene and override the system when real-world conditions change.
- Cost Efficiency: Evaluate routes to balance cost, fuel usage, driver hours, and customer requirements.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Liaise closely with the transport, operations, and accounts teams to guarantee a smooth operational workflow and accurate job recording.
- Driver Management: Allocate jobs to drivers and provide live updates throughout the day regarding changes, delays, or new instructions.
- Customer Service: Communicate with customers to confirm timings, resolve issues, and handle urgent requests or missed collections promptly.
- Data & Systems: Use transport software to input job data, update schedules, track vehicle movements, and maintain accurate operational records.
