We are delighted to represent a prestigious, multinational manufacturing organisation in their appointment of an Applications Engineer.

The role holder will play an important role within the projects business, converting customer enquiries to quotations and supporting documentation, and providing technical support and advice direct to the customer as required, working with clients across the EMEA region on a range of technically complex and intellectually stimulating engineering solutions.

Working closely with a team of dynamic sales and project engineering professionals, the applications engineering team provide optimum value and work to achieve the highest ratio of bid to project reward.

This business offers intricate engineering solutions to several sectors, including significant support to the oil and gas sector and with presence in many territories, including the Middle East. Key skills

  • Educated to Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree level in Engineering – all disciplines considered – mechanical, chemical, mechatronics.
  • Some post graduate experience as an applications engineer, or maybe design engineer, or project engineer in an engineering environment – knowledge of oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical or industrial equipment would be advantageous.
  • Previous customer interface experience, and a genuine interest in the commercial side of engineering.
  • 3D CAD knowledge – Inventor is a useful skill to bring.
  • Strong commercial acumen, highly numerate and data literate.
  • International exposure or willing to expand this - some travel to other EMEA locations will be required on occasion.

This role will be based in the North East UK and is mainly office based with some occasional home working (one day per week as desired after training and induction).
