The Vice President of Secondary Marketing is responsible for the strategic management and execution of pricing, pipeline hedging, best execution loan sales, fall-out modeling, and servicing asset valuation for both retail and wholesale mortgage originations. This individual will play a critical role in driving profitability and managing interest rate risk, while ensuring that pricing strategies align with the company’s overall business objectives and market conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage daily pricing strategy across all channels, ensuring competitiveness while meeting margin objectives.
  • Manage best execution analysis for mandatory and best-efforts delivery across multiple investors and aggregators.
  • Work with the EVP to monitor pipeline exposure and implement hedge strategies to mitigate market risk, including the use of TBA and forward loan trades and options-based instruments.
  • Build and maintain accurate fall-out and pull-through models to inform pipeline valuation and hedging analytics.
  • Oversee servicing release versus retained execution analysis, and manage MSR valuation assumptions in partnership with capital markets partners or external advisors.
  • Build and manage CRA trading and associated counterparty relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and agency/investor policies.
  • Provide analytical insights to executive leadership on market trends, margin performance, and risk metrics.
  • Build and manage break reports to ensure accurate loan pricing, minimise execution drift, and ensure margin accuracy.
  • Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering technical development and performance accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of progressive experience in secondary marketing or capital markets within the mortgage industry.
  • Deep knowledge of loan pricing, hedging strategies, fall-out modeling, and servicing valuation.
  • Experience with loan trading platforms (e.g., MCT, Compass Edge, QRM, Tradeweb) and secondary marketing systems.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.

Skills

  • Microsoft Excel – Advanced proficiency, including complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and scenario modeling.
  • SQL – Ability to query and analyse large datasets for pipeline and performance reporting.
  • Loan Pricing & Hedging Platforms – Familiarity with systems such as MCT, Compass, QRM, Encompass Product & Pricing Engine (EPPS), and Tradeweb.
  • Mortgage Loan Origination Systems (LOS) – Working knowledge of platforms such as Encompass or similar.
  • Data Visualization & Reporting Tools – Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Statistical & Financial Modeling – Ability to build and interpret forecasting models, margin analysis, and sensitivity testing.
  • Risk Management & Compliance – Understanding of capital markets risk controls, agency guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Communication & Presentation – Capable of presenting complex analyses to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
