Full-Time Job Exploring General Business & Beyond
The Transportation Engineer Senior performs engineering work at an advanced level, acting as a lead within the engineering series in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and their facilities and structures. The incumbent will supervise the District 6 Bridge Section. Work is performed within a policy framework, but the incumbent makes independent engineering decisions within that framework and may assist in setting objectives and goals. Positions may include roles such as Assistant Engineering Director, Assistant District Engineer, or Regional Engineer. Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION
- Current license as a registered professional engineer in West Virginia.
- No substitutions.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid highway engineering experience involving the design, construction, or maintenance of highways.
- Substitution #1: Master of Science degree in civil engineering from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Please attach your degree’s transcript or diploma to your application.
OR - Substitution #2: Non-highway engineering experience may be substituted for highway engineering experience at the rate of two (2) years of general experience for one (1) year of highway-related experience.
Note: Experience must have been acquired after obtaining the bachelor’s degree but may have occurred before or after registration as a professional engineer.
