ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Mobile Response Team (MRT) Social Worker with Seneca, you will provide proactive early intervention before crises escalate to divert youth from more restrictive interventions. You will work alongside a team of dedicated mental health professionals and provide same-day crisis intervention for youth facing immediate crises and ensure that families receive coordinated care and access to long-term services. Our team’s overarching goal is to:

  • Minimize psychiatric hospitalization
  • Decrease police involvement
  • Reduce the criminalization of mental health.

Our program specifically caters to low-income and at-risk community members, offering assistance to youth with Medi-Cal or no insurance. These crisis intervention services are provided in homes, schools, and various community locations. You will respond to each crisis as a team, never going out alone, while collaborating with fellow community partners that work to serve our youth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), in client homes, and in the community.
  • Provide counseling, therapy, and case management services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to community-based resources.
  • Provide on-call coverage to the clients as needed.
  • Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and IEP meetings when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and paperwork.
  • Assist with planning for transportation arrangements for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings.
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee.
  • Provide crisis intervention for students, using de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts; this may include physical management of clients and implementation of Seneca’s Equilibrium Training.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, or psychology.
  • Eligible to register with the California BBS (AMFT, ASW, APCC).
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.

SKILLS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility.
  • Experience working with children and families in out-of-home care.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
    • Participate in On-Call Crisis Response shifts on a rotating basis (stipend provided)
    • Sunday – Wednesday
    • 12:00 PM -10:00 PM
    • Overnight on-call requirement Saturday 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Starting at $79,000 – $93,000 per year.
    • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.
    • Additional $4000 salary increase for BBS licensure.
    • Additional salary increase upon passing of a bilingual proficiency exam.
    • $5,000 sign-on bonus for new employees.
