We are dedicated to serving low income families in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles and San Bernardino areas. Position: Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Department: Behavioral Health
Locations: San Fernando Valley Region – Mission Hills, North Hills, Panorama City
Hours: Part – Time & Full-Time (Mon-Fri 8a-5p)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
School-Based Services:
- Provide brief intervention therapy and assess whether additional therapeutic intervention is indicated
- When indicated, provide counseling / therapy sessions to students at contracted schools
- Coordinate long-term therapy as needed
- Interface with school staff and family of students while maintaining patient confidentiality according to current standards
Integrated Behavioral Health Services:
- Respond immediately to medical provider requests for a behavioral health intervention in the patient exam rooms
- Provide therapeutic interventions when behavioral health issues arise during a medical clinic visit
- Develop diagnosis and treatment plans that are integrated with the medical treatment plan
- Provide brief interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health conditions
- Ability to use behavioral health interventions as part of an integrated response to a patient’s medical and mental health needs
- Coordinate long-term therapy for patients with chronic/severe mental illness
General Duties Applicable to All Settings:
- Complete all required clinical and billing documentation
- Attend clinic and other staff meetings as requested
- Provide information for reports to funding sources
- Represent the agency to other agencies or groups as assigned
- Supervise graduate students/interns as assigned
Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) – current licensure is required or
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) – current licensure
- Expertise in utilizing brief-intervention models of therapy
- Expertise in evidence-based practices such as Solution-Focused Therapy, IMPACT model, SBIRT, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction
- Knowledge of medical conditions and the interaction between medical and behavioral health condition
- Knowledge of common chronic medical diseases and their effect on behavioral health (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.)
- Knowledge of how behavior and mental health affect medical outcomes
- Knowledge and skill working with diverse populations
- Knowledge of MediCal requirements preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to abide by standards of professional ethics
- Computer literacy including word processing and e-mail
- Bilingual Spanish ability preferred
- Valid California Driver’s License, with insurable driving record
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Master’s Degree in Social Work and has earned their license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in the State of California or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Two plus years of experience providing therapy in a school setting, medical clinic, or hospital, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Experience in a variety of assessments, treatment planning and counseling issues including chemical dependency and/or domestic violence
Additional Information
