We are looking to hire a Land Surveyor in our District 3 office to help compile and analyze data and evidence obtained from research and field measurements. You will work with the land surveyor senior and the development engineer to direct and coordinate the District Survey activities.

Location: Sioux City or Cherokee Office

Shift Requirements: Monday – Thursday, 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., daytime travel required.

As a Land Surveyor, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct, review, and prepare acquisition plats, plats of survey, excess land plats, and signs, and certify said plats.
  • Lead the field survey crew in land, topographic, and construction survey activities, research of survey and land records contained in county courthouses, city offices, and private engineering and land surveying firms.
  • Conduct research to assist the survey team in completing its work accurately.
  • Review and perform calculations to determine survey accuracy and X, Y coordinate values of survey points.
  • Review and prepare public land corner certificates as required in Iowa Code, Chapter 114A.11.
  • Provide technical support to district staff and others regarding land survey and construction survey.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a Professional License in Land Surveying issued by the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Board.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa Class C Non-Commercial Driver's License.
