Overview
We are looking for an Investment Banking Analyst on the Strategic Advisory team at Independence Point Advisors, supporting a number of sectors with a focus on climate, energy transition and sustainable materials. The Analyst will support both business development initiatives and deal-related tasks. The ideal candidate will be passionate about a career in investment banking and have a natural curiosity about Climate and Energy Transition. They will be a self-starter, eager to learn new skillsets quickly and is expected to have strong modeling, excel and PPT skills and a strong grasp of key corporate finance concepts. The Analyst will work with senior team members leading Energy Transition and Sustainable Materials coverage at IPA, and will benefit from hands-on training and professional development opportunities.
Preferred location: NYC, with 4 days a week in office at our location in downtown Manhattan. Candidates outside of NYC may be considered with expected monthly travel to NYC.
Base Salary Compensation: $70,000-110,000
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform valuation analyses: Work on a standard suite of corporate finance modeling analytics including discounted cashflow (DCF), pro forma merger analysis, comparables (trading & transaction), to assist in financial decision making.
- Prepare investment banking presentations: Assist in preparation of draft pitch books, including market updates, sector analyses, TAM overviews, investor insights, etc utilizing PowerPoint, Pitchbook, Factset, and Excel.
- Conduct economic research: Perform in-depth research to analyze industry trends, economic indicators, and market dynamics, contributing to the firm’s understanding of factors impacting investment decisions and strategies
Job Requirements
- Recent graduate in undergraduate degree program in relevant disciplines or MBA programs and with strong work experience in finance.
- Minimum GPA of 3.4 / 4.0
- Prior internship experience in investment banking, investment, accounting or financial services
- Interest in energy transition, climate and sustainability
- Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft PPT and XLS
- Ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously
- Resourceful self-starter; able to work autonomously
- Outgoing personality who can engage clients and team members
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and a high level of professional integrity
