Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) Regional Assistant Director

Under general supervision of the Early Academic Outreach Director, the Regional Assistant Director will form strategic educational partnerships with departmental/campus staff, school site/district administrators, community members, non-profit organizations, local businesses, students, and parents in order to provide direct oversight of educational partnership efforts within the region and improve their effectiveness in building a college going culture. Will work with students to give them information about how to get into college, what happens when they get there, and how to pay for it.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver’s license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Four year university degree and two years of, academic advising or youth development experience serving large numbers of ethnically and linguistically diverse middle and high school students, with additional experience in communicating UC and CSU admissions requirements to a broad audience.
  • Experience working with academic preparation programs and outreach efforts to increase educational achievement, specifically among students from diverse populations and language backgrounds.
  • Experience with program development and management and expertise to design, implement, and evaluate initiatives serving diverse communities.
  • Experience exercising initiative, originality and judgment in applying and analyzing broadly defined campus, county, state, federal policies to solve unusual and/or complex problems in particular as it pertains to the field of education.
  • Experience working within guidelines and policies established by the University of California, UC Davis and the granting and funding agencies.
  • Familiarity and sensitivity to academic, social, and emotional factors confronting students and families from diverse backgrounds; communication skills to prepare and deliver oral presentations and to prepare written reports, correspondence, proposals, program assessments, email and other materials for a variety of audiences, ensuring compliance with departmental and university guidelines, practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of both public schools (K-12) and the California systems of higher education (CCC, CSU, UC, and AICCU) which includes knowledge of academic standards, administrative structure, faculty relations, school protocol, school communities, categorical funding, and the Master Plan of Education in California.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in planning, preparing, and monitoring complex education budgets by integrating program goals, projects, plans, staffing needs and statistical data.
  • Knowledge of Family Education Rights and Privacy Act and ability to handle and work with confidential records and materials of minors.
  • Foreign language speaking skills, preferably Spanish.
  • Computer knowledge to utilize various programs and software in project management including word processing, spreadsheets, student database management systems.

The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) was created in 1976 to help more students meet the requirements to go to college, especially students who are the first in their family to go to college or who are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. EAOP works with the UC Davis campus, schools, and the community to provide support for everyone involved. UC Davis EAOP works with over 2,500 students in 32 schools!
