ChildNet Youth & Family Services, Inc. is currently seeking Behavioral Health Therapists/Clinicians for our Behavioral Health Services (BHS) division in Long Beach, CA. Behavioral Health Services (BHS) provides mental health services to children from infancy to young adulthood. Services are provided on-site and within the community at schools, caregiver homes, child care centers, etc.

Example of BHS Clinician/Therapist job responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision of all clients assigned to the caseload and maintain a minimum caseload of 16 clients (typically more) in order to fulfill the requirement to provide 1080 minutes/18 hours of direct client service per week.
  • Provide comprehensive services including individual/family therapy, collaterals, rehab sessions, and case management services as needed in the home, school and/or office environment.
  • Collaborate with client’s caregivers, biological parents, CSWs, other community agency social workers, teachers, medical doctors, psychiatrists, Probation department, and case managers for an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Encourage participation of the family in the development and implementation of service strategies when appropriate.
  • Coordinate service delivery with county agencies, families, primary caregivers, significant others and local schools.
  • Attend to the health and safety of all clients assigned to the caseload.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Crisis situations are limited.
  • Comply with all program, federal, state, county and school district regulations.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Supervisor, Quality Assurance and Outcome Measure teams to complete DMH and BHS paperwork and maintain all deadlines.
  • Complete ethical client documentation (e.g. assessments, reviews, updates, etc.) in Electronic Health Record within required timeframes.
  • Attend all individual and group supervision on a weekly basis.
  • Attend all team meetings, trainings and any other required staff meetings.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Clinician/Therapist (AMFT/MFT) Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health related field of study.
  • Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC); OR Licensed in the State of California as a LMFT or LCSW or LPCC, or possess a waived license (LMFT/LCSW/LPCC).
  • Ability to complete extensive DMH paperwork (Training provided).
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to embrace diversity and to approach treatment with an inclusion and equity lens.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.

All offers of employment with ChildNet Youth and Family Services, Inc. are contingent upon a post-offer, pre-hire medical clearance with an occupational physical, tuberculosis screening, and a negative drug test. A criminal background clearance which consists of fingerprinting through the Dept. of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index Search is required. An essential function of this position does require driving. Underwriting requirements of this agency include keeping a valid California driver’s license, valid auto liability insurance on file, and maintaining a good driving record while employed.
