We are looking for a Transport Manager to join our logistics team. You will report directly to the company Directors and will have full responsibility to lead the transport operations team with specific focus on the management of drivers and logistics whilst ensuring legal compliance and 100% health and safety within your department. You will need to have the skillset and experience to deal with issues as and when they arise and to manage various situations appropriately while ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of a customer focused service.
Hours: 8.00am to 6.00pm
Monday to Saturday
45 hours paid (30minute unpaid lunch break)
Responsibilities and Duties
- 1. Managerial responsibility for the day-to- day running of the Transport Operations at all depot locations.
- 2. Ensuring optimization in the routing and scheduling of all the HGV vehicles.
- 3. Ensuring that all fuel orders and vehicle logistics at various depots are scheduled in an economical and efficient manner in accordance with the current government legislation.
- 4. Monitor all Driver Time Management in accordance with Company Policy and the current government legislation e.g., Driver timesheets, Driver Rota’s, Tachographs, driver availability etc.,
- 5. Assure Quality control management procedures on Depot Tanks. E.g., water dips, tank gauges, regular stock checks.
- 6. Assisting the Hr. department in any Driver induction, transport team appraisals, disciplinary procedures and performance reviews and training issues.
- 7. Investigating and resolving any driver misdemeanor e.g., property or vehicle contaminations/spillages/ damages resulting from driver behavior and reporting back to director.
- 8. Ensuring complete compliance in reference to all company essential driver maintenance e.g., Driver uniforms, PPE, Company Manuals, CPC, and ADR updates.
- 9. Day to day general management and review of departmental H & S procedures and policies in transport division.
- 10. Ensure that all logistic administrative documentation and operational practices are completed by team per government legislation and company guidance e.g., vehicle maintenance requests, customer complaints, incident forms, driver cash sheets, absence requests.
- 11. Consulting with other senior logistic personnel to ensure that Company Policies and Procedures remain relevant, efficient, and effective.
- 12. Provide back up if needed for other Depots e.g., Holiday or Sick leave
Qualifications
- Transport manager CPC qualification
- Previous experience working a Managerial role within the transport sector.
- Thorough knowledge of transport Regulations and Compliance
- Procession of category C + E license.
- Excellent geographic knowledge of Northern Ireland and familiar with planning/scheduling systems (desirable)
