Overview:
Working within a modern aerospace and precision engineering manufacturing business that produces precision engineered components with processes such as CNC Machining, Sheet metal fabrication and surface treatments, we now require a Quality Engineer to join the group global quality function.
Brief overview of duties:
- Act as the internal focal point for quality-related matters, providing expert support to both central Quality teams and site-based teams on escalated technical queries, issues, and challenges.
- Provide specialist guidance to all sites on the deployment of APQP deliverables, including identifying training needs and supporting the roll-out of APQP training across the group.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering to continuously enhance planning and inspection processes, ensuring best practices are shared, standardised, and embedded across all sites.
- Support group-wide activities to maintain NADCAP and customer-specific process approvals, including assisting site teams in preparation for NADCAP audits.
- Conduct internal process audits to identify improvement opportunities and drive operational excellence.
- Support the effective implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Provide technical support to inspection teams, ensuring a consistent and standardised approach (e.g. CMM strategies, GD&T application).
- Support wider Quality functions as required to ensure alignment and consistency across the organisation.
- Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to support business development, growth initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
The ideal candidate may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:
- Experience in deployment of APQP deliverables
- Working knowledge of international standards for quality management systems (AS9100, ISO9001)
- Experience in manufacturing processes for sheet metal and machined components, including surface treatment processes
- Proficient in reading, understanding and applying technical documentation such as drawings, technical specifications, standards etc.
- Proficient in developing and improving planning (routing) and supporting documentation (procedures, instructions, process checklist)
- Previous experience in a highly regulated industry – aerospace, nuclear, automotive etc.
- Experience with inspection techniques / CMM
- Strong knowledge of problem analysis methodologies (i.e. 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why, DoE, DMAIC, Kepner Tregoe, etc.)
- Working experience with ERP systems
