This role sits within the R&D team and focuses on leading product development and product improvement projects. The Mechanical Design Engineer will take ownership of projects from concept through to production, working closely with engineers, scientists, suppliers, and external partners. Product Development & Engineering Projects

  • Design new products and develop innovative engineering solutions
  • Lead and support New Product Development (NPD) and product improvement projects
  • Lead Engineering Change Request (ECR) activities
  • Plan, cost, and manage projects including timelines and budgets
  • Compile and present project updates to stakeholders

Design & Technical Delivery

  • Produce high-quality 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate mechanical and electronic components
  • Source materials and parts, managing supplier risk and availability
  • Prepare and maintain documentation including BOMs, production packs, instructions, and QA/testing procedures
  • Present design decisions and technical outcomes clearly to the wider team

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or R&D environment
  • Proven track record of taking products from concept into manufacture
  • Strong CAD experience with SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, assemblies, and testing
