Senior Simulation & Modelling Engineer
An innovative technology company developing next-generation energy storage solutions is looking to appoint a Simulation & Modelling Engineer to support the advancement and scale-up of its battery technology platform.
Working at the intersection of modelling, electrochemistry and product development, this role will focus on building and developing multiphysics simulation models to better understand performance, degradation and system-level behaviour across battery technologies.
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, research-driven environment , working closely with multidisciplinary teams to translate complex technical data into real-world engineering and commercial outcomes.
You will lead modelling and simulation activities across the technology stack, supporting both product development and commercialisation.
Key responsibilities:
β’ Develop and maintain physics-based multiscale models for electrochemical systems and battery pack behaviour
β’ Build and manage simulation libraries spanning laboratory through to production-scale systems
β’ Collaborate closely with electrochemists to convert experimental data into modelling parameters
β’ Work with engineering and testing teams to validate model accuracy through experimental procedures
β’ Analyse performance and degradation behaviour to generate actionable engineering insights
β’ Support hardware and product teams with data-driven recommendations
β’ Contribute to continuous improvement in data analysis and modelling methodologies
β’ Translate technical performance into commercial insights, including support for cost modelling and business development activities
β’ Work cross-functionally across product, engineering, data and commercial teams
β’ Promote strong engineering standards, safety practices and continuous learning
About You
β’ MSc or PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
β’ Strong background in simulation, modelling or electrochemical systems
β’ Experience with physics-based or mathematical modelling software
β’ Knowledge of electrochemical energy storage technologies (battery experience advantageous)
β’ Experience handling and interpreting large technical datasets
β’ Ability to translate experimental findings into robust modelling frameworks
β’ Strong data visualisation and communication skills
β’ Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across technical disciplines
β’ Comfortable operating in a fast-paced innovation environment
β’ Commercial awareness and understanding of IP considerations beneficial
