Position: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Sector: Engineering
Shift: 4-on, 4-off continental shift pattern, covering 12-hour day shifts (06:00-18:00) and night shifts (18:00-06:00)
Salary: £50,000
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for all planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities across the plant.
- Provide first-line mechanical maintenance and breakdown support to minimise equipment downtime.
- Manage mechanical engineering activities on shift while ensuring full compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Assist with planning and coordinating shift maintenance activities, providing specialist mechanical knowledge where required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability, performance and efficiency.
- Investigate plant breakdowns and provide accurate technical information and reports to support Single Event Analysis (SEA).
- Assist in identifying root causes of recurring failures and implementing corrective actions to prevent breakdowns from reoccurring.
- Complete accurate and detailed engineering and maintenance reports.
- Lead, support, coach and develop maintenance personnel, including apprentices.

- Strong practical mechanical knowledge, with the ability to apply technical skills effectively.
- Confident in supervising, supporting, coaching and developing colleagues.

- Well-organised, with strong planning, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures, environmental standards and compliance requirements.
