We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to carry out the maintenance and installation of all mechanical plant and machinery on site here in Sheffield. This hands-on role involves fault-finding, diagnosing, and maintaining equipment within a heavy engineering environment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Using your mechanical engineering knowledge to install, maintain, and repair a wide range of plant and machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent operational performance.
Shift Pattern: Rotating days and afternoons. Overtime available when available. Offering a rate of 20.40/hour, Monday - Friday (39 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and install machinery to specification, ensuring correct function of all components.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical systems to minimise downtime.
- Perform reactive, planned, and proactive maintenance following the company's PPM schedule.
- Maintain equipment according to maintenance plans.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Complete high-quality work that meets company standards and safety requirements.
- Produce job-specific risk assessments and method statements before commencing work.
- Update the CMM system and define spare parts where required.
- Work independently or as part of a team to support site maintenance needs.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the company.
Key Equipment: Friction and mechanical power presses, furnaces, CNC machines, shot blast machines, pumping systems, and laser machines.
Skills and Experience:
- 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and welding skills.
- Proven fault-finding ability and experience working from engineering drawings.
- Team player with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Health & Safety conscious with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.
Desirable: IOSH Working Safely, IPAF, Confined Space (high risk), Abrasive Wheels, FLT Licence.
