Nicholas Associates have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a reputable groundworks company based in the North East.
Standing out for their high-quality delivery on site, this residential groundworks company are subcontractors to PLC housebuilders including Redrow Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway Homes, Vistry Group and Keepmoat Homes. Building on decades of success, they are enjoying a period of strategic growth and are therefore expanding their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build relationships and manage suppliers, negotiate prices and place orders
- Managing the day-to-day project procurement of materials
- Liaising with the on-site teams to source the most cost-effective materials, of the highest quality
- Monitoring the performance, quality, prices and development of suppliers
- Ensuring health and safety compliance
- Identifying new potential suppliers and products
- Preparing quotations and proposals
- Attending team meetings and site visits
- Preparing and maintaining cost reports to maximise efficiency
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Buyer with a groundworks contractor or house builder
- Knowledge of groundworks materials, aggregates, asphalt, concrete and drainage
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with suppliers and the site teams
- Computer literate including Microsoft Office and confident in managing and working with large data sets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
