Great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a company and get involved with full project lifecycle design projects. The role will see you working with customers to understand and define their requirements, producing design and layout drawings, working with production to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and manufacture, through to supporting FAT, SAT, installation and commissioning.

You will need to be able to demonstrate professional experience of the design and development of robotics and/or automated manufacturing equipment - we are not able to consider people who are straight out of academia/education.

  • Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Aided Design Engineering or very similar
  • Proven professional experience of the design of automated production equipment, bespoke machinery, robotics or similar
  • Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred, Solidworks, Creo, Catia also will be considered)
  • Proficient in all technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery
  • Knowledge and understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Able to think creatively to develop innovative solutions
  • Proficient with technical calculations
  • Experience of undertaking FEA
  • Experience with automation and control systems beneficial
  • Experience of working within a multi-skilled environment (i.e. knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Competent in the use of the following Microsoft products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams
