We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join a busy and well-established Family Law team based in Prescot. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to support senior fee earners within a large and collaborative department. The caseload will predominantly involve Care proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting fee earners with the management of a busy caseload
- Opening and maintaining client files
- Providing day-to-day administrative and legal support to the team
- Liaising with clients, courts, experts, and external agencies
- Updating clients on case progress
- Managing appointments and diaries
- Taking and making telephone calls
- Preparing court bundles and legal documents
- Supporting clients both in person and remotely where required
- Attending court to assist counsel and/or clients
- Completing legal aid assessments and applications
- Taking initial instructions from clients
Candidate Requirements:
- Proactive and able to use initiative
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work effectively within a busy team environment
- Flexible and adaptable to meet client and business needs
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Previous experience within a Family Law team is preferred (minimum 12 months desirable)
- Experience using Case Management Systems and Laserforms is essential
- Experience using the Legal Aid Agency Portal (CCMS) is essential
- Experience using Excel spreadsheets would be advantageous
Additional Information:
The role is based in Prescot. Hybrid working may be considered following successful completion of the probationary period. Please note that the role will require office-based attendance for part of the working week on a long-term basis. Interviews may be conducted either in person or via video call.
